This short course is for anyone working in adult services who wants to feel more confident getting people moving in a fun and engaging way.

Whether you’re supporting adults in day centres, residential care, supported living, or community groups – you’ll know that movement matters. But knowing what to do, how to do it safely, and how to include everyone isn’t always clear.

That’s what this free mini course is for. It’s been created by Move Mojo – a team with years of experience in inclusive sport and adapted physical activity across adult health, care, and disability support.

This short course is about building your confidence to deliver three simple movement games and activities that can be adapted to the needs of the people you work with.

The course is broken into short sections:

●        Understanding Fundamental movements – The movements that matter most to live an empowered life.

●        Movement, Not Exercise – how to focus on enjoyment, confidence, and ability – not routines or prescriptive exercises.

●        Three adaptable Games That Work – Three easy fundamental movement game ideas that can be done seated, standing, one-to-one or in groups.

Each section includes a short video, a printable handout, and real-life examples

This is an introduction to help you feel better equipped to support adults with a range of needs through movement that are engaging, inclusive and achievable.

What is adapted physical activity for adults, and who is this course for?
Adapted physical activity (APA) is a flexible approach to delivering activity that supports individuals with varying physical, sensory, or cognitive needs to be active in ways that are safe, fun, and meaningful.

This free course is designed for staff in adult social care, day centres, supported living, and community groups who want to gain an insight of practical tools and confidence in leading inclusive movement sessions. No prior fitness experience is required.
How does this course support inclusive physical activity in adult services?
The course focuses on inclusion-first design. You’ll learn how to adapt movement games and physical activities using person-centred approaches, whether working 1:1, in groups, or across a range of support settings. Each game can be delivered seated, standing, or with mobility aids, helping everyone participate in a way that suits them.
What skills will I gain from completing this adapted activity training?
By the end of this short course, you’ll feel more confident in:
•tLeading movement-based games for adults with different needs
•tApplying fundamental movement patterns (like squats, lunges, hinges) in accessible ways
•tUsing constraints-led and strengths-based approaches to deliver inclusive activities
•tEncouraging participation and enjoyment using games over rigid exercise routines
Are there printable resources and videos included in this course?
Yes! Every module includes:
•tShort, easy-to-follow video demonstrations
•tPrintable handouts for each movement pattern
•tReal-life examples and adaptations to use right away
This makes it ideal for practitioners who want tools that work in real environments like residential care or day services.
How does this course align with national guidelines and support professional development?
This training is built on evidence-based practice and aligns with the UK Chief Medical Officers’ guidelines for physical activity in adults, including those with disabilities or health conditions.
It offers CPD-style value to anyone looking to expand their inclusive activity toolkit. You can also explore additional Move Mojo courses for deeper training in adapted sport and community coaching.
